CHAIRMAN: Mr Gareth Davies, BHSc (HSaf&Env) – Chair

GD - Head shot - webMr Davies is a father of four, one of which currently attends The Glenleighden School, with an interest in ensuring the delivery of the strategic plan of the organisation. Mr Davies runs and operates his own Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Compliance Consultancy. He has previously worked in roles at executive management level, most notably for a large national construction company. Mr Davies has served on the Executive Committee since September 2013.


TREASURER: Mr Michael Cutri, BBus(Bkg&Fin), BBus(Acc), CA

Mr Cutri provides audit services for BDO for whom he has worked since 1999. He has a hands-on audit role, including auditing for not for profits, as well as assisting with implementation of internal systems and processes. Mr Cutri would like to add value to a worthwhile cause, bringing with him a passion for financial statements and financial management, as well as an interest in raising the profile of the organisation. Mr Cutri has served on the Executive Committee since September 2013.


Dr Denis Meadows, B.Ed., M.Sc. (Calgary). Ph.D. (Griffith Uni.)

Dr Meadows is a special education consultant who has recently retired from the School of Cognition, Language and Special Education at Griffith University. His PhD was in language development in infants. Dr Meadows has investigated transition arrangements and their outcomes for secondary students with disabilities for Education Queensland, and continues to advise Government. Dr Meadows has served as a member on the CHI.L.D. Executive Committee since 2007.

Ms Marea Sharp, BA, DipSocW

Ms Marea Sharp is a social worker with 20 years experience working in a not for profit organisation providing outreach services for students with physical disabilities. She is familiar with and interested in both post-school options and early intervention and has a passion for understanding families and the impact of disability on families. Her current role is focused on Child Protection. Ms Sharp has served on the Executive Committee since September 2013.


Mrs Sue Park M.SP.Path., B.Sp.Thy., MSPA

Sue is a Speech Pathologist and Founding Director of Speech Language & Learning Educational Therapy Consultancy who has a long history with Glenleighden and CHI.L.D. Association as a previous employee in various roles: Sole Speech Pathologist, Senior SLP and Outreach Manager until 2003. She has over 40 years of experience, also having worked with Sydney Children’s Hospital, Queensland Cerebral Palsy League, (Speech Pathologist In Charge) the Pre-School for Deaf. She is also a co-leader for Speech Pathology Australia -Queensland Private Practice Network, sitting on the executive of the Queensland branch -Speech Pathology Australia and is on the panel of advisors for the Australian Catholic University Speech Pathology Department.

Sue has a passion for supporting children with speech and language disorders, and childhood apraxia of speech/ developmental verbal dyspraxia (DVD). She completed her Masters research study investigating her therapy program at Glenleighden. Sue is the joint Australian trainer for the Derbyshire Language program, used at Glenleighden and she supports provision of speech pathology in Developing Communities (Australian Story ‘Under Her Wing’). She is also joint founder of a children’s app development company, Language and Learning Steps. Sue has been on the Board of Directors of CHI.L.D. Association since August 2015.


Mr Dale Shuttleworth GradDip BusMgmt, GAICD

Dale has a Graduate Diploma in Business Management to complement his Associate Diploma in Electronics Engineering, and has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course. Dale is a former Member of Queensland Parliament, where during his term he served on the Health and Community Services Committee and has been on the Board of Directors of CHI.L.D. since September 2015.


Mr Alex Rummery BSc (HONS)(Econ&Acc), CMA

Alex Rummery is a qualified accountant with over 20 years’ experience across various organisations in the UK, the Middle East and Australia. His experience encompasses both public and private sector entities and he specialises in business process and system improvements to enable businesses to leverage their full potential. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, CPA Australia, The Tax Institute and the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has additional qualifications in Treasury and Risk Management.

As a parent of a child with ASD he has first-hand experience of the tremendous benefits of early intervention and the great strides that can be realised when young people are exposed to speech therapies.
